At summer camp I was hanging out with this sweet boy who was actually very cute. He said, 'Why don't we just spend tomorrow together too?'. I was estatic. The next day was the annual summer trip from Maine to New York. So the majority of that day is spent on a coach bus (about 12 until 7, then we spend the entire weekend in New York City. Our camp uses powder mix to make eggs, and it has never really sat well with anyone, but we can all pretty much stomach it. So Travis (the boy) and I spent the morning pigging out on those eggs and drinking orange juice. Then, we both took a sip form the water fountain (he took more then I did). Our camp has a big thing about dehydration, so they kept passing out waters and saying to drink, drink, drink. Everyone pretty much refused except for Travis. He and I were close to the back, laughing and having a great time. About two and a half hours into the ride we had a bathroom stop. I went, just to be sure I'd make it, but Travis assured me he felt fine, and could I please buy him a Coke? I obliged, and bought one for myself too. I bought pretty large Cokes, but I knew Travis loved Coke. So on the bus, he starts joking around again and asks for the coke. I remeber I have th ose two in my big bag. It was quite large, but he still drank it all in about 20 minutes. I decided I wouldn't drink mine, afraid I might need to pee if I did. So were telling stories, talking about where we live, and about four hours into the drive Travis gives me a pained look. 'Are you alright?' I ask him. 'I'm so thirsty, Jess, do you have a drink??'. I was hoping to save the coke for New York, but Travis is so cute and his eyes are bulging and his voice is scratchy. I hand it over. This time he finishes it in 10 minutes. Recap: Travis has eaten powdered eggs (two helpings), four medium sized glasses of orange juice, a four minute gulp from the water fountain, six waters on the bus, two 1-liter bottles of ceffeine-full Coca Cola. We've been on a bus for four and a half hours, so people try to sleep, I doze for ten minutes, but Travis stays up. He then starts breathing hard and fast, crossing his legs and squeezing his hands tight. He inches up next to the window and looks out. Were supposed to have about two hours left, but over the loud speaker the camp director says that due to our long pit-stop, and lots, and lots of traffic in Massachussetts and Connecticut (i think those were the states) we will probably be on this bus for another four hours, at minimum. Just to let you know, we were actually in the end on the bus for five and a HALF more hours. But as the camp director says this Travis perks up, and then looks like he's going to faint. He whispers to me, "Jessica, is there a toilet on this bus?". I'm kind of grossed out that he needs to pee, but I sadly tell him no. "This is an absolute emergency." he says, but I tell him to keep talking to me and he'll feel better. Were obviously happy to be hanging out, and he seems to relax after some talking. Then my friends in front of us turn around to talk. First we mention something about a warm bath. Travis gets a little bit stiff, but I figure he'll be fine. "How are you Trav?" I ask, expecting the worst. "Actually, I'm ok, I can make it." We chuckle. Then all our friends turn around and were all talking. Bryan, one of the funnier kids, starts telling hysterical jokes and were all laughing. Travis looks horrible, twisted up, face red, pressed into the seat. People are noticing and whispering. I'm pretty embarassed, I want to die, but I think to myself, Travis has it much worse. Most of my friends start falling asleep, it's almost eight and we've been driving forever. I lay down and close my eyes, but Traver just can't seem to stop tossing and turning. It's gut wrenching. He's starting to yelp and let out signs of severe pain. Soon hes just making loud noises like, "Ohh..oh...oh." Loud enough for me to hear, but not for many other people. It's nine, we should have been there two hours ago. "You still have to go?" I say. "You don't understand Jess, I'm going to die right here." I giggle but he doesn't. "Can you walk?" I ask because my cousin, a doctor, says that if you can walk, you can hold in your water for a while. I tell him this. He figures he can probably walk. Were on a dark highway late at night but I advise him to walk to the front of the bus to ask for a stop. He walks almost ok, but by the time hes at the fron of the long bus, he's toddling. He talks to a drowsy counselor, who lectures him about using the toilet when it's offered. Travis sighs, asks again if they can stop, please, it's urgent. They say no, and he wobbles back to our seat. "I'm sorry, Jess, I don't know what to do." He starts crying. We have approx. an hour left. He is now pushing down manically on is crotch, bouncing, and making sounds, most of the bus is asleep. He pretty much makes it, until were into the city. I keep telling him the bathroom will be in the hotel, were almost there. Then, I can see the hotel, we all can. Were circling the block to find a way to elt us out, and Travis starts looking hopeful. Bryan says something funny about a hotel...I forget what, and we all burst out laughing. Travis is so happy, he laughs too. And then pees a little bit. I notice, because I'm next to him, and it's a tiny spot. He looks like hes going to cry again, and I keep telling him were almost there, no one notices. "Jessica, once I've started, I don't know if I can do it." Two minutes, I chant, just hold on. He starts crying and says, "My stomach is killing me. It hurts so much, oh no...i'm in so much pain...oh, Jesus Christ." Then he says, "I can't do this." He starts peeing, and crying, and just shivering. I'm edgin to the end of my seat, and everyone is laughing at this gorgeous boy who cant hold it for two more minutes. He turns two me, his eyes and face drenched with tears. "I'm sorry, Jessica, I'm so sick from those powered eggs." He stands up a little (He's still peeing steadily, mind you.) and now I notice he's passing some sevre diarhea. Soon, the bus parks, and by now thats everywhere all over his pants, the floor, and he's peeing, and his poop is plain water. We were both embarassed. I ran to the front, and they didn't beleive me. I couldn't even go back and look at him, but now he was in his red boxers, completely covered it crap...he's mopping it up a little bit with the bag from our cokes. He's still peeing. I was embaressed for weeks. I saw him the next day looking awful and so embarassed. I couldn't speak to him, I felt sick to my stomach and disgusted. He was so embarassed I heard he cried all night. I haven't seen him since, turns out he lived in New Jersey and was picked up that afternoon. We were 15 when this happened. I am a CIT at the camp now, people still talk about Travis Johannsen. It was awful, people used to call me "The Shit-Friend" and "The Piss-Lover". Now as a CIT I tell the campers that they shouldn't drink too much, and pee when they can, I know from expirience we've had problems on the NY trip. What do you think of the story??
