Immortality is impossible, for mortal man anyway, in the grand scheme of things.

Do you think that 25,000 years from now, people will remember, will know, who Alexander the Great was?

Of course not.

Civilizations come-and-go, they have throughout the course of history. For example, how much do we know today, even with modern-day technology, about the Mayans?

Almost nothing. It's all speculation.

If you want to leave a legacy behind, the best thing you can do, in my opinion at least, is leave a positive legacy behind for the people you care about, and who care for you.

That's all I want, all I NEED, to be remembered for.

I know a man who felt this way at 60 years old. He was a good man and did a lot within the community.
I am afraid he will be remembered only by his family and some members of the town for a short while after he is gone..like so many others.

I personally do not feel the way you do,but I know of many who do. So what can you do to leave your legacy? Short of finding a sure fire cure for aids or cancer, be an important member in your community for starters.

Don't forget to have a family genealogy book with you in it along with your children as a "legacy" also.

You may be the father/grandfather..ect. to generations of people. One of which may even be president some day.

Live your life to the fullest, you only have one.
That may help with the feeling of emptiness or waiting for something to happen to you.

Good luck
