So the girl that I've had a crush on for over a year has just gotten engaged. She also ignores me. Yet for some reason I got an invitation to her engagement party. I was too depressed to go- partly because I am sad that she's with someone else, and partly because I'm sad about how she's treated me.
I guess I have no life that I care, and I can't push this out of my mind.

All that and you've only had a crush on her for a year? yeah you're right, you have no life.

That sucks.

Sometimes we care for who we care for. It doesn't matter if they spit on or kick us we still we can not turn off our affection for them. Feelin simple do not work that way.

If you can I would remove yourself from her. Sooner is better than later. It has worked for me.

I would join a club of some kind. I know this might sound silly but filling your life in other ways can be a great step.

I sould also think about doing some more posting on the subject. I have found just putting things out there helps me to move on. I am not sure why but it does.

Hi, thanks whoever you are for the inspiration. Glad that there is someone out there reading this and caring. You said I should post more about it. Well, there is more to this story. I am a straight girl, but I have had two (very strong) crushes to date on other girls, and this was one of them (the other one was already married when I met her). I may have posted a little about this before, so if this is a repeat for you, just ignore.
Basically, she's a girl I know in the neighborhood who, when I first moved in, was extremely friendly to me. When you're new to a place, and there's this one person being superfriendly to you, it has a way of making a strong emotional impact on you. Her being pretty did not help, I very quickly developed strong feelings for her. She also was touchy-feely, and at times would hug me, or hold my hand. This only served to intensify my feelings of attraction for her.
But over time, particularly after some hard times in my life, and after I had told her some intensely personal things about myself, she began to back away. She eventually started to completely ignore me in public. This seemed to be the exact opposite of her initial friendly self when I had first moved in. Even though it seemed that her initial friendliness had been phoney, I couldn't help but continue wishing that she was still that friendly, touchy feely girl who could possibly be sharing some of the same feelings I had for her. Well, at this point all I can do is wish. Over time, in addition to ignoring me, she got a boyfriend, who is now her fiance, and obviously they're going to get married. And meanwhile she doesn't know I'm alive :-(

The thing that sucks about being a straight guy, is having to deal with screwed up girls like the one you spoke about. Least you can now find a nice guy and put the bitch in your past. Me; I'm stuck looking for another girl.
