I'm almost nineteen, and I need to support myself independantly of my relatives. I've been applying for job after job after job. Part-time, full-time, McDonald's, Radio Shack. I can't get any of them. I can't even get an interview. In fact, I've never even gotten any indication that my application was ever received, much less even looked at before being thrown directly into the garbage. I feel like everyone is working against me and that there's no end in sight. It seems like everyone wants an application filled out online nowadays. They always ask pages upon pages of personality related questions, and it always takes anywhere up to an entire hour to complete one. And after I send several out every week, I get no response. I feel like they're not even getting them. I feel like I'm wasting all my time trying, but that I can't give up. And I've been doing this for months, not giving up, and I STILL have nothing to show for it. I don't have any assurance whatsoever that they DID ever get them, so I don't even really have any reason to believe so. I've never had a job either, so that doesn't help. Why won't anyone tell me what happened, regardless of whether I got an interview or not? I sit by the phone, just waiting for it to ring. But it's always some solicitor, or for someone else. I try walking into locales to apply, I try calling them up directly to apply, they either give me a paper application that's never answered or need me to apply online. (Which never works.) This is maddening. If I don't get a job soon, I'm going to do something unhealthy. I hate this fucking town and all of its jerks that have jobs which they perform inadequately.

Another pity party in a long line. If you are just applying at "several places" a week, you're not even trying. I suggest you get off your dead ass and approach the situation like you really mean business. Start by spending 40 hours a week applying for work, then do what is known as follow up. Call and check to see if your application was recieved in personel or human resources. You might also try Job Services and a Temp Service in your area. In your spare time, stand on a main street corner with a sign that say's WILL WORK FOR FOOD. This could very easily open up a lot of avenues for you as far as a paycheck in the future. I know,i've done it. It's all about networking. Another thing you may want to work on is your attitude.Thru self-help books or some counseling, you could become a real (go-getter). After you get your first job, don't stop there.keep moving. Get some experience and or some training at your local vo-tech. In time, you will actually find your tennys, get them laced up,find the starting line and get in the big race. I could sit here all day and pump sunshine up your ass but,i think you get the general drift. Good Luck

Do you have a nose ring, lip rings, rings in your eye brows, a scervy looking beard, wear pants that are at least six times too big? If thats the way you look, you ain't gonna get hired. If you don't look like that and are really interested in finding work, do as the other posted suggested git out and find some.

Sounds like most any town with a population over 5000.
