Straight Female / 48
My family owned A small motel, a movie theater and a diner in our town. My last name was on all businesses. Although my family did well we were not rich. I was introduced to a boy, the cousin of a friend who was visiting. He didn't know me or who my family was and he took advantage of me, that's what it was called back then. There were witnesses, and word got back to my house. My father and my older brother went looking for him and took care of him, that's what it was called back then.
My father got a jail sentence and my brother was given the choice, join the Marines or go to jail. He joined and was killed in action. Our businesses failed one by one, my mother and me didn't know anything about business. We were poor, my father in jail, my brother lost in Vietnam. My reputation was also trashed, everyone knew I was used goods. I finished high school and left town, I went to an aunt in Los Angeles, I waited tables, worked as a cleaning lady in a retirement home. I met a lady there, she was a widow and I told her my story. She gave me a name, look the man up, tell him she had sent me and he would give me a job.
That's how I got into prostitution. When my father was released I had saved some money to help him get back on his feet. I sent money to my mother, I was young and older men liked me.
I eventually met a mechanic with a shop and he wanted to marry me, he didn't care about me being a prostitute. I married him, and stopped being a prostitute and went to work at the local Sherwin-Williams store.
I am not proud of my life, my life was ruined in high school. I kept my word and lived with my husband until he passed. He left me with a house, some rental properties and savings. I never loved him, not in the way you are supposed to love a man. I was his wife.
