I'm a 32 year old Mormon housewife. I wasn't Mormon growing up. After I met my husband I converted. My life as a housewife is the best thing that I have done for myself. The kids come with the job. Respecting and obeying your husband comes with the job. Mormon men are not scared of putting their foot down and running their home and family. Maybe my grandfather did that, my father never did and no one in my pre Mormon life ever made me believe they were man enough for me.

Male here. I know that this will cause some heads to explode, but I believe in traditional roles for the family unit. The man is the head of the household, and should have the say in "Many" of the decisions in running of the household. But I also believe that marriage is a two way street. A man and a woman should work together to run a home and a family. The man is meant to be the "Head" of the household, not the "Tyrant" If you look back to the past, and remember how "Most" families lived, that is just how it was. And they all functioned quite well like this, and were very happy. It's actually the way it is meant to be. In a loving home this works quite well. I have no problem with a woman who is strong and independent. I prefer this to a whiny little girl type. But then, a woman wasn't meant to do everything a man can do. She was meant to do everything a man "Can't" do.

Maybe it was more that your mom didn't fall for that religious bullshit about women being subservient to men. Historically, has that crap made the world a better place? No....
