Hello there!
It's the first time when I am posting on such a place I am not the kind of woman who can easily confess a personal thing to a bunch of strangers but here it goes..
My story is that I am a 27 year old woman with a good job, went to college, I am happy because I am independent I love what I do but there is one thing that is missing in my life:love!
To have an actual partner that loves me, a gentle and caring man to hold me in his strong arms, I feel the need to be protected by a man and so on.
I realised how lonely I feel when my best friend asked me months ago to be her made of honour. I am really nervous and excited at the same time that I will be there for her at the wedding and I am really happy that she found a good guy that loves her very much but this situation overwhelmes me.
I often cry sometimes in the night because her wedding made me realised once again that I am really lonely and sad and that I will be probably one of the few people from the wedding without a date.
I blame myself for chosing career over a boyfriend, most of the times I declined love for my job, I was so absorbed by my work that I completely forgot that I need some time for my soul and heart that needs to be healed.
My previous relationships were nothing serious and were nothing at all called a relationship I actually haven't been in a relationship with a man before, only went on a few dates with some guys, mostly guys I knew from work but that's just all, nothing happened between us, I was too innocent and scared and with this attitude I pushed guys away.
Over the years I tried to become more confident trying to be more strong, sometimes I can, sometimes I can't be that woman.

I feel the same, but not because of my career. I do not want to offend you with this, but this is true and I know how you feel. I'm a middle aged woman, I have a seemingly good life. Everything is okay. For a decade my friends tried to find me a boyfriend after they had found the right ones. But while my friends have got married and have a family, me, I'm having sex with my brother. We are happy, we enjoy being together and we are in love. But we are not in a relationship because we can't tell anyone about us. I have found love, but I can't tell anyone about it! I'm lonely although I have friends around me!

My friends still think I'm sexless and hopeless and although they do not mean it, their actions speak to themselves. I do not have children, and I do not understand them when they talk about their families and children. Lately when we have met, they have nothing to talk about with me, but when they meet each other, they a constantly chattering, and I feel left out. It is painful. When I was in my twenties, I didn't want children because my brother and me were in love. But when I was in my thirties and saw all my friends having a family and I noticed I would not be able to live that life, I got scared. But then it was too late. I'm in love with my brother and I do not want to leave him ever, but of course we can't have kids and we can't have the life my friends can. I wish you all good, and I hope you will find the right one for you.

Hell. I'm not sure anyone saw what #2 was going to say. But you act like 27 is over the hill. Believe me, you are far from the top of the hill. Just be open to a relationship and look in the right places. Relax and enjoy your youthfulness. From a 58 year old.

"Hell. I'm not sure anyone saw what #2 was going to say."

What do you mean?

I meant she have used all her life to her career and suddenly she feels alone because she notices other people have balanced their lives with career and family, and happiness. Love is something else than just "love" and what people most refer as "crush on". Love is so much more. It is also the need to be accepted, it is also the need to be something important for someone. You can be in a loving relationship where only you love, but you do not recieve love. Some day you will feel empty.

She have got everything from her career. Everything but love and acceptance. She knows she is only as good as she is in her work. After work day, she is something else. She is alone. If she gets in trouble, her job will not come to save her.

I have got love from my relationship with my own brother. I have got everything, but family and acceptance from my friends. For them, I'm not a person who is in love and in relationship. Secret life is really tiresome. When I'm with my brother I feel happy. But it is exactly like after work day, I'm something else.

I meant only to warn her before it gets too late. She will have only a decade before she will realize it is too late. I do not know if she wants a family, but she is soon thirty and then fourty. She can find love and a person who will love her no matter what, of course. But life and love is more than just a crush on. Does she want a family? Something she have created by herself and from where she can't get fired?
