Well, personally i'm not gay but have the fear of telling my family that i am. In a movie or something, (based on your issue) ask your family what they think about it...

If they say ewww girls kissing... etc. Keep it a sercet and never get married....(you know what i mean) or just tell them when you think its right....

If your family will be behind you no matter what... then you should be safe.. it really tepends on the family....
