In the 7th grade, my class went to sea world & discovery cove for a few days which means we were spending most of our time swimming. I had gotten my period 2 months before so it was still on an irregular schedule. I didnt even think of the chances that i would have it on my school trip. That is, until i got there. I hadnt yet learned how to use a tampon so i wasnt sure what to do. I obviously couldnt use a pad, so i tried using a tampon from one of the machines in the bathroom but i couldnt get it on. I thought maybe that in the water, the blood would just wash away and no one would notice. The first thing we did was swim with the dolphins. While we were standing there, a girl in my grade started giggling. She then went and whispered something to her friend and they both looked my way. During lunch i found out the whole grade knew i had my period, and even worse, that i wasnt using a tampon. They all thought it was so disgusting and all the guys kept giving me these weird looks. I was humiliated, hurt, and angry. everyone "eventually" forgot about it, but it was definetly one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.
