My wife and I downgraded our cable service to save a little money. We were paying about $45 a month and now we pay about $8 a month. The control box outside was not even locked and falls off when you bump it (careless). You might say a friend of mine knows a few things about cable t.v. We asked him to check it out -- you know, to make sure the box is on secure and the connections are sound etc. What do you know, the next thing, one night he walks in the house with two traps in his hand that he had disconnected --he put everything back the way it was before the downgrade. He said that no one was around. He said that the cable company would most likely never even notice and even if the slim chance that they would happen to notice, they would just assume that the previous service guy didn't do his job. I said, "Sounds good to me!!"

It's people like you who push up the charges for honest folk like me. What you are doing is theft and I hope that you get caught.

It does not bother me much that you got in on the cable company, what bothers me is the fact that you felt "OK" because it could be blamed on the previous cable guy.

Then again, the "previous" cable guy is probably also the long-gone "previous" cable guy. The turn-over of help at most cable companies approaches that of a mcdonald's hamburger joint. Very doubtful the cable co. will try to track down exactly who was responsible for the apparent half-assed job; even if they thought they could proove it, what are the chances they are going to the trouble, time and effort to find out where long-gone previous cable guy went, and put in a bad word for him at his new place of employ? All long-gone(or really, even still-employed at same place)"previous" cable guy has to do is deny responsibilty - and it becomes a wash.
Occasionally, cable co.s go on "witch-hunt" campaigns to try to scare people with shady cable connections, but legally, all they can do is discontinue your service in the unlikely eventuality you are found out.
Get satellite. Let the cable dangle.

Democrats want free rides?? I guess you're a republican. One of the over privileged, has hand-down money from generation to generation. I bet you think you're entitled, why? because your great grandpa stole land from the Native Americans and brought over African Slaves. Please... and I am not the original poster, unlike him, I PAY for my cable like every other hard working person.

Cable tv service, like everything else in our society, is not only grotesquely overrated but horrendously overpriced as well.

If you are too hidebound to take advantage of the few drops of opportunity that present themselves, you will be stuck in your cretinous "political" mindsets forever - doomed to suffer the consequences of whatever hoax the current "government" and their mouthpiece lackeys choose to drop on you.

Poor sheeple.

Right on. Cable is so over priced I don't blame you. Long back I had a bud that was a locksmith. On the roof of my apt building over each bank of apts was a box where all the cable wires simply plugged in. Box only had a small master padlock that was so new there was a visible number on the bottom of it. Well you guess it; locksmith buddy cut me a key and I plugged in the cable. As years went by the locks went lost and eventually none of them were locked anymore. Guess the cable guys didn't care so why should we.
