I am a divorced 28 year old mother of a 9 year old boy and I have dilemma that I don't know how to handle. My son is afraid of everything. He is afraid of the dark and being alone (even if he is downstairs and I am upstairs). That is not my biggest concern. My concern is he is afraid of taking showers alone and refuses to bathe unless I shower with him. I know he won't be attracted to me because I am only just his mother but I am afraid this will do more harm than good. I can't stop this because he throws tantrums if I don't and I fear that he won't be able to leave the house on his own.

Don't listen to that moron! You don't say why there is no father in the picture, there may be a fear if he left that you may also. At 9 years old you don't have to be naked with him, you could wear a suit. Also remember who the parent is, don't let your child run you or he will. I would suggest some form of counciling to resolve some of the fears, although some are common.

Dont even think about how he is scared.... buy him bath toys - bath crayons recommended- tell him it is fun to be by yourself because then you can have fun!

just take it really slow, when he's in the bath tell him ur standing right outside and keep talking to him and when he's ok with that go into the room next door and let him know ur not far etc. same with his other fears just take it slow

And people need to stop having more than what you can afford.

shit lady?

you mean you can't find some 16 year old girl babysitter to give him his bath?

either he'll like it and she help him overcum his fears. she can tease him you're not afraid of the dark, such a big boy like you, are you? he'll want to act older than his age to impress her so he'll get over his fears

if he's embarrassed as hell over a girl washing his tiny balls, he'll be forced to overcum his fear. or tell him you get his classmates - GIRLS - to babysit and bath him.

Tantrums?
Give him a good spanking!

If you're one of those parents who think children are innocent and should never be coerced, hit, or humiliated (as they will be throughout their childhood and even beyond), then consider what will happen if he tells someone at school that you shower with him.
Better he be beaten than both of you having to deal with a child welfare agency or a court.

Take him to the pound and trade him for a puppy, you won't regret it one bit.
