I know it's bad manners to stare at people, especially if they are handicapped, like this man was. And I wasn't staring at him. I was staring at the blonde! I couldn't keep my eyes off of her. Repeatedly, she looked in my direction as she spoke to the man in the wheelchair, and I could tell she was becoming increasingly agitated. But I just couldn't look away from those naked thighs. I just kept staring. Finally, she glared at me with a look of rage mingled with tears, when she stormed off, pushing the wheelchair bound man with her.
I always wish I could have appologized or explained. I wish I could have told her I was looking at her, not gawking at the unfortunate man with her. I suspect the woman is out there somewhere, still remembering the asshole kid who stared at her and the man she had been caring for. That had been at least twenty years ago, and I still feel bad about it.
