I think that most people have enjoyed bands and/or music that were mainstream at the time and are not acceptable by today's standards, especially boy bands.
I don't know how old you are, but I used to like to listen to Vanilla Ice and Milli Vanilli if you know who they are. I even owned their albums myself.
No one ever said anything to me like your friend said to you, but I can see why you were embarrassed.
