I am a college student studying animation. I have very few windows to work on what needs to be done due to a hectic schedule and many portfolio/studio-based classes.
Today my tight schedule got me into a situation that needs relieving.
I had video-editing project to do for a class. It was a short 5-minute interview/documentary bit about the up-coming election. The only classroom on campus that had the equipment I needed (sound editing work) currently had a class in it. Having experience with many people coming in my classrooms before and working on different projects during my previous classes. I took this to mean that it would be alright, in my naievte.
I tried to find a computer in the back of the classroom, and I tried to be quiet and as undistruptive as possible. Unfortunately some of the noise coming from my video camera as I got the footage off of it was disturbing to the people around me. I didn't even know, I didn't know until a woman in the class confronted me and let me know how rude I was being.
I had no idea. I apologized profusely to her and the professor, and explained my ignorance, that I meant no harm and didn't even realize that my camera was making noise due to my headphones on to edit the sound.
I was forgiven, but I still felt guilty for interrupting someone like that, to disrupt something that many people are paying a lot of money for. I suppose I assumed since it never bothered me, other people wouldn't be bothered. It was a poor thing to assume. Everything said, I'm glad it was pointed out to me, so I can avoid the same situation in the future.
Confession is amazing therapy.
